I feel that I have returned to Nottingham after a long (and unfortunately un-eventful) summer with a fresh attitude towards my development as a film maker, with a different perspective on how I'm going to spend my time here at university.
I've only time for a short post, as I have to go shortly, but I've recently been in contact with a film-maker who heads the AV department of ASOS fashion. He and I have been friends for quite a few years, and so I've always thought he would help me out as well as he could. He's offered me a lot of fantastic advice, and also an internship at his company whenever I need it, which I am hoping to take him up on at some point this year.
I have invested in a macbook pro recently, and began learning Final Cut Pro, as it is the industry standard (although I hear perhaps taking a look at AVID at some point.)
I am fervently watching and thinking about film. A show I have been watching a lot recently is called Nathan Barley. It is a comedy television series origonally aired a few years ago, written by Chris Morris (probably my favourite writer) and I absolutely love the way it looks, and I find it very, very useful to watch it from the point of view of a film maker. I find I am learning so much more from just thinking like a filmmaker as I watch it, and even though I have watched it hundreds upon hundreds of times prior to recently, I find after only a few episodes already I have been bettered creatively. I hope this trend will continue.
Anyway, I'll write more in depth on this when I have time
